The Adoption Option
Are you wondering how you can raise a child, barely able to take care of yourself? Adoption could be a great fit for you and your child. It gives you a chance as a birth mom to put your child in the care of a loving family, waiting to adopt. It also offers the chance for you to still have a relationship with your child if you desire.
With adoption these days, you get to make the call as the birth mother. You have control over the process and have options. You can feel supported throughout your adoption journey with our support and resources to learn more.
Types of Adoption
Open adoption is the most common type of adoption. According to American Adoptions, nine out of 10 adoptions are open adoptions. This type of adoption lets the birth mom communicate and interact with her child and adoptive family. This could include phone calls, video chatting, or in-person visits throughout the child’s life.
A closed adoption, on the other hand, is more private. There is no contact between the birth mom and child or adoptive parents and the birth mom after the adoption takes place. Everything remains confidential with no contact prior to or after placement.
You get to decide what kind of relationship you want with your child and the adoptive family of your choosing. You can also have a big say in what kind of family you want and get an overview of who they are, how they live, hobbies, and religion. Every potential adoption family goes through a lengthy background check and approval process.
